Software 101 is a slow paced basic level class.

Class 2:
- We'll learn about import features to open designs you have purchased or designs that are in the software.
- We’ll select hoop sizes and learn why hoop sizes are helpful when using software
- We’ll learn about saving designs.
Class 3:

- Movement, scaling, duplication, select line/region sew type, rotation
- Changing the colors
- Adding basic text to a design
Class 4-10: We will keep building your skills so when you open your software you will have more confidence to experiment with it. Software is FUN!!!! That’s my goal! To make you feel like it’s fun :-) Soon you'll be using SVG files to create embroidery deigns, add background fill, creating knock down stitching from bacsic shapes......
Each class in the series is designed to build on the previous class. There will be an assignment each week. Opening the software and practicing for a few minutes helps you retain what you have learned. You must complete the course before you can move on to any class labeled as a 201 level software class.
Most classes will be skill builders, as opposed to a project. Although project based videos get you going they don't each you about the tools that created the project and what else you might be able to do with them! The goal is to have a binder type notebook with sew outs and notes so you can remember what you learn. After 20 years at software I still have a current binder going with test sew outs. What didn’t work is just as important as what did work.
I will be recording each class session that you will have acess to forever and you’ll also get handouts of screen captures that will be your road map. In addition, I will be posting little follow up videos to better explain each tool/feature. Interaction with your fellow classmates always leads to another opportunity to post another video to answer the question!
You must have a personal FB page for this class! Interaction is essential to learning. A private FB group for just our class allows me to critic your weekly assignments and gives you a platform to ask questions through the week that I can respond to, usually as a video that everyone can learn from. The videos are NOT FB LIVE videos so they will not be deleted after a period of time. You can always come back to your group!
Class sessions will be 2 hours long.
- It’s helpful if you have a tablet that you can watch the class video while following along on your computer. If you don’t you are welcome to follow along or watch the recording after class.
The PRIVATE Facebook group for just this class is an integral part of the class. There are handouts, supplemental videos and other content that is uploaded to the group. The group is your private forum for interacting with your classmates and for me to answer questions that come up in between classes.
- You must have PE Design 11 or Palette 11 software installed. I will do a pre class video on installing your software.
- Classes are presented on Zoom. You should be familiar with the platform. The login/password will be the same for all session
- You won’t be embroidering during class time but will need to sew out your assignments in between classes. No special hoop size. I’ll show you some of mine on the first day.
This is a software class that requires commitment. Each session builds on the previous session. You should plan on a couple of hours between classes to revisit the information and stitch out your work.
The following computer skills are required for this class: Know how to create a folder, how to save something to the folder, and know where you put the folder. These skills are not presented in this class.
